Ruby Lamb was an original cast member for the Austin chapter of Naked Girls Reading (founded in 2013) until it closed in 2019.

"Naked Girls Reading" is a monthly live literary salon that has found enthusiastic audiences spanning 15 major US cities, Vancouver, Toronto, and London. The salon, very simply, involves changing themes wherein excerpts from different pieces of literature are read aloud and discussed by our small (average:3) cast of women. While there exist nuanced differences in presentation from city to city, the essence and mission are uniform. The cast reads aloud, on a stage or in a bookstore/salon/art gallery/performance space, in the nude. This event very much echoes the salons of early 20th century Paris – bohemian, sensual and also a meeting of ideas and good text – and at the same time, is a refreshing reprieve from a society where we are taught to fear and shy from the beauty of the human figure. As our flagship chapter found during their first show, the audience comes for the "nudity," but stays for the nudity: intelligence, humor, thought-‐provoking content and disarming, unapologetic, smart presentation.”
